Favourite Body and Face Scrubs!

Scrub

A couple of months ago, I wrote a post on my favourite skin care products but left out my exfoliating products because I wanted to save them for this post! For me, exfoliation is the most important step to my skin care routine. I would say that I exfoliate around 1-2x a week. If you read my last post, I talked about not knowing anything about skin care and believe me when I say this, I never once touched a face scrub. I always had this idea that they would be too harsh and drying for my skin. My skin was already sensitive, blemish-prone and I wasn’t trying to irritate it more. But, I was so wrong. If I could go back in time, I would definitely tell my younger self Tina, you need to exfoliate! Fast forward to today and it’s become an active part of my routine. And rightfully so! Exfoliating removes dead skin cells, revealing healthier and smoother skin. When you skip exfoliation, these dead skin cells accumulate onto the skin leaving a rougher and uneven looking texture. By removing this layer of skin, you are allowing other products in your skin care routine to absorb quicker and much more effectively. Now that we’ve got that covered, onto my favourites!

Face Scrubs

  1. Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub – The formula for this scrub is great for sensitive skin types because it’s a gel texture with very fine granules. Even though it doesn’t feel like your typical scrub, it works just like one! The granules slough away dead skin and instantly makes my skin feel and look brighter. However, I wouldn’t recommend this for daily use even though it’s described as a daily scrub.Face Scrub
  2. Caudalie Deep Cleansing Exfoliator – If you don’t mind spending a bit more, I highly recommend this exfoliator. Caudalie is known for using natural and environmentally-friendly ingredients. With its whipped cream texture and soothing ingredients, it deep cleans without drying skin out. 3 Main Ingredients: -Natural Corn Beads for exfoliation, menthol for freshness and grape pulp for its natural fragrance and moisturizing properties.Face Scrub

Body Scrubs

  1. St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub – I know many love using this on the face but I actually hated it because it was just way too rough! Since the skin on our bodies are thicker, I’d recommend using this as a body scrub instead. As a body scrub, it removes dead skin, unclogs pores and reduces the chance of ingrown hairs from developing. It’s a great body scrub at an affordable price!Body Scrub
  2. DIY Sugar Body Scrub – My favourite homemade body scrub mixture includes sugar, milk, honey and olive oil. You can substitute ingredients based off preference or skin needs.

Why I love these 4 ingredients together?

Sugar has a rounder texture making it gentler for your skin. Milk soothes skin while improving complexion. Fun fact: Milk was one of Cleopatra’s beauty secrets 😉 lol! Olive oil is rich in anti-oxidants and nutrients making it the perfect added benefit to this mixture. It’s also an excellent moisturizer. And honey has anti-bacterial qualities which increases tissue regeneration. Together, they target all areas that your skin needs and improves the overall health of your skin!

I don’t know if you can tell yet by this post but I really love exfoliating products! What’s your favourite? Have you tried any of the ones I’ve mentioned? Let me know!
