DIY Cat Embroidery || Forever 21 Inspired (Beginner’s Guide)

Embroidery

The embroidery trend is everywhere right now and with good reason. With it’s simple beauty, each design transforms a piece of clothing into something unique and eye-catching. This style of sewing has also been one of my grandmother’s favourites who loves creating designs on pillow cases, napkins and clothing! Her love of sewing started from a young age and she instilled that same passion for clothing-making into my mom who later taught me how to sew. Although, I have to admit, my skills are limited due to my lack of patience (but I’m working on it lol) Anyway, for today’s post, I decided to take one of the simpler designs I found while online shopping and show you how easy it is to do at home!

The Inspiration

What you’ll need!

  • Embroidery thread (You can find this at any craft, fabric or dollar store!)
  • A needle
  • A white crayon or eyeliner
  • Your fabric of choice (I used a denim jacket)

Embroidery Step-by-Step

Step 1

Using a white or black crayon, draw in your outline. Next, prepare your needle by pulling the thread through and knotting the ends together.

Step 2

Following your outline, pierce the fabric with your needle and pull the needle through.

Step 3

Create another small piercing near the last piercing and pull all the way through to create a line. If you want the lines to be thinner then only knot one end of the string and use this same method but with one end of the string. For a thicker line, wrap the string around the needle before pulling the needle through.

Step 4

Repeat step 3 until you’ve completed your outline. Once complete, tie the string tightly under fabric to secure the design.

And there you go! Super cute, easy to-do and very affordable!

See you in my next post!
