Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner

Today’s post is all about Bioderma’s Sebium Pore Refiner Cream! I’m sure you’ve heard of Bioderma but if you haven’t, Bioderma is a skin-care brand that aims in creating products that are inspired by our skin’s biological mechanisms. This means that most, if not, all of their products contain scientifically beneficial ingredients that not only replenish the skin but heal and restore it. However, with any product claim, I always have my doubts and this product in particular, has quite a few. If you want to know more, check out the rest of this post!

Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner

Let’s start with some of the advertised skin benefits:

  • Tightens pores
  • Smoothes and refines skin texture
  • Lastingly mattifies
  • Prevents blemishes
  • Preserves the skin’s natural radiance
  • Spreads out easily
  • Excellent base for uniform make-up

As you can imagine, a skeptic like me sees a bunch of promises like this and thinks, come on..really?! I’m not born yesterday…But ironically enough, these claims still get me and you know I had to try it out. Most of the time, I regret this decision but this time was different, no regrets and it’s even become a staple in my routine!

So what promises were kept? Well….

  • Tightens pores? No but it does a good job at protecting your skin from harmful environmental factors which has made my pores clearer which in turn has made them less noticeable.
  • Smoothes and refines skin texture? 100% but only for combination-oily/ normal skin types :(. If you’re on the dry side, this product may not work as effectively for you unless you thoroughly moisturize.
  • Lastingly mattifies? Yes, yes, YES! I’ve actually skipped blotting midday because of this product!
  • Prevents blemishes? This product didn’t break me out but I wouldn’t say that it prevents blemishes – I’m impartial for this one.
  • Spreads out easily? Very much so! I was surprised at how little I needed. The texture is soft and slippery making it easy to glide across your face. (Thank Goodness because this product is kind of expensive for its size (lol))
  • Excellent base for make-up? The perfect base! It works great both alone and with make-up!

Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner

As you can tell, I really like this product! If you’re having trouble finding a mattify-ing cream or primer that reduces the appearance of pores then this is a great option! If you’re acne-prone and looking for a product to prevent blemishes, I don’t think this is for you. I also would not recommend for dry skin types because I had trouble working this product in some of my dry patches (nostrils) – I actually avoided applying in those areas all together :(. However, overall, two thumbs up from me!

Have you tried Bioderma or this product in particular? What did you think? Let me know!

See you in my next post!
